EP Soul Children Jam Sessions

Update:::

EP Soul Children is now spreading further afield performing at a selection of venues with one Jam Session / Open Mic per month. For a list of forthcoming dates and venues, please visit the live dates page.

History:::

In March 2010 Em started performing at Deco 5 Wine Bar and Gallery in Whitstable. What initially started as a Solo Piano – Vocal gig was extended to a weekly Residency all year round on every Thursday from 8.30pm.

Em started holding a Jam Session and Open Mic night – ‘The Deco Jam Sessions’ – for all musicians to attend of any ability and genre on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. On a typical Jam night 10-15 musicians of all genres attend. There is always a full rhythm section with vocalists and horn players. The style centers upon Jazz, Blues, Soul and Funk but it wouldn’t be unlikely to have some folk music and even an electric Cellist.

On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month Em performs her regular Piano-Vocal gig with several guest musicians who attend to showcase new material or perform alongside Em.

Em decided to name the Jam and Open Mic Sessions “EP Soul Children” as they seem to have settled into a Soul, Blues, R n B and Jazz Jam. However – don’t let this put you off! All genres are welcome.

The EP Soul Children Jam Sessions are quickly building momentum and to date, musicians who attend are Richard Rozze, Nev Willis, Paul Smith, Miles Cookman and Lee Thompson (Guitar), Frances Knight (Piano, Accordian), Nick Peck (Hammond), Rox Clayton-Scott, Amy Hayward, Paola Bottomley, Jude Adams, CJ, Nikki Alexander, Christina Bosanko-Birkett, Ramona Egle and Chris Coates (Vocals), Harry Evangelou, Andee Price and John Jegede (Bass), Katy Windsor (Sax), Brendan Power (Harmonica), MC Solomon (Rap), Ry Robson (Vocals), Vince Clarke, Fred Rother, Roger Diamond and Marcus Bishop (Kit).

We have also been amazed by the entire Chix wiv Pix blues band showing up to perform and a surprise performance from 30 members of the Oyster Singers Choir who started singing (to the surprise of the audience) whilst seated in the audience, before congregating in the performance area.
